Who can compete in Miss Bel Air?
  • You must be a citizen of the United States

  • You must live, work, or attend school in the state of Maryland

  • You must be a young woman born between 1996-2006

  • You must meet the character criteria and all other eligibility requirements as set forth by the Miss America Organization

  • You must be in reasonably good health to meet the job requirements

  • You must be able to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities

Where is the pageant?

Miss Bel Air is unique in that the pageant is interview only. The interview location will be communicated once all applications are received.

 
How do I apply to compete in Miss Bel Air?

The position of Miss Bel Air is chosen via interview. The deadline for communicating interest to the Committee via e-mail is posted.

What should I do to prepare?
  • Be sure to create or update your Fact Sheet and start thinking of a Community Service Initiative for the committee.

    • Instructions to complete these documents can be found here.

  • Look over the Bel Air 4th of July website to get a feel for the Fourth of July festivities.

    • Is there a particular event you're excited for? 

  • Learn more about Bel Air, MD.

    • Should you win, you will be representing the area. Get to know the businesses and local happenings.

  • Read up on the Miss America Organization and the Miss Maryland Organization. 

    • Who is Miss Maryland? Get to know who is representing the state and what you will need to prepare for the state competition.

Do I have to buy a whole new wardrobe to compete at Miss Maryland?

NO! Wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable and confident. Past contestants have borrowed talent costumes, interview dresses, and even prom gowns from friends. 

I don't have a talent but want to compete. What should I do?

Everyone has some kind of talent! Dancers, singers, instrumentalists, gymnasts, basketball dribblers, and more have been performed on pageant stages across the country. This is your chance to showcase your unique talent. Remember, talent presentations are only 90 seconds.

What kind of time commitment goes into being Miss Bel Air?

We tell every woman who comes into our program that they will get what they put in. If your goal is to be Miss Maryland, we can get you there. If the goal is to be an exceptional Miss Bel Air, let's make it happen. Have an idea of what you want your year to look like.

We expect our winners to make their year of service and preparations for the Miss Maryland Scholarship Pageant a priority along with school, work, and other activities.
